Seven Card Stud Poker

Deemed the classic of all poker games, 7 Card stud is probably the simplest to learn of them.
The poker skills needed are different from those used in games such as Omaha poker and Texas Hold'em poker. You should have an emphasis on card strategy and memory in this game.

When you start to play 7 Card Stud poker, everyone posts an ante to be involved in the game, which happens to be 10% of the lower limit of the poker table you are playing on. There are no blinds in this poker game so the ante is really there to get the pot up and going.

Once everyone has posted their ante, the cards are dealt and the poker game is ready to begin. Each player receives two cards face down for only you to see. They are called pocket cards. and one facing up which is called the door card. The person with the lowest door card starts the betting and it goes around in a clockwise direction. Once that has been completed the next card is dealt again face up and it's called 4th street, and then the 2nd round of betting takes place. This is followed by the 5th Street card, which is a door card, then betting occurs again. After that there is the 6th street which is face up and another round of betting. Lastly we have the river card, which is a pocket card, and it is at this point that you should have three cards facing down and four for everyone to see.

There is one exception to where the river card is not a pocket card, as an up and coming poker player you will probably be thinking this, “A pack of cards has 52 cards in it, but there are 8 people on the table, so if we get to the final card there wont be enough.” But this is a rare poker scenario, so whilst playing 7 card stud poker the final card will be a community card. In most cases other players in your poker game will have folded in one of the five rounds of betting so you can all have your own cards. The winner is the poker player with the best 5 cards out of the seven. Although Texas Hold'em seems to be the most popular game currently, the classic 7 card stud is making its comeback.
